Humans in a Human Business
The attached article talks about the challenge that some on-site folks have relative to one becoming too close (personally) to a resident. While the article focuses on women working on site, typically in management and leasing, the alternative may be true for men working on site, most likely in a maintenance position. The focus is on the pitfalls of developing a strong personal relationship between an employee and a resident. Bottom line: don’t get personal. As the article explains, an extremely tenuous relationship can be created in any number of ways. The result may be other residents and fellow employees seeing some level of favoritism being extended to the resident by the employee. Never good and could conceivably result in a bad outcome for the employee. So for those working on site, beware of the potential pitfalls, and possible serious consequences, should you decide to extend yourself beyond your daily responsibilities.
