The Human Element

I write about this frequently and advise clients of same: the critical importance of resident relationships. A gentleman I used to work for said repeatedly, “We are a people business. We may buy buildings, improve properties, upgrade assets…but at our core, we a people-centric operation.” So true. And that rings true now when tens of thousands of new units are coming online making the competition for residents fierce. Barry Blanton, of Blanton Turner, a Seattle-based property management firm, stresses three key elements as being essential for successful resident relationships: residents need to look forward to coming home; they need feel proud about where they live when telling others; and, their home must support their personal brand. Owner, managers and others should take this advice to heart.
