Headwinds and Tailwinds

In an article by Bob Pinnegar, President and CEO of the National Apartment Association, he provides five headwinds and three tailwinds currently facing multifamily. The headwinds he cites are labor market challenges, inflation/interest rates, supply and demand, regulatory environment and a possible recession. The tailwinds are demographics, technology/innovation, and sustainability considerations. Pinnegar cautions those in the industry to keep a close eye on the labor market and inflation and to focus on technology and services. He argues that the U.S. must address the supply and demand imbalance in order to improve housing affordability. He believes the nation must also work to reduce barriers to apartment construction. The article is well worth taking a few minutes to read and digest.
