It’s always good to be polite as the payback is generally rewarding. Saying ‘thank you’ is an easy thing to do and is something I’ve started doing far more frequently than I’ve done in the past. I thank folks in all kinds of situations…the checker at the grocery store, the restaurant waiter/waitress/hostess, the clerk in the store…on and on.  The article specifies five times that are recommending when a ‘thank you’ is in order.
