Natalie Gochnour leads a busy life. As associate dean in the Eccles School of Business, director of the Kem C. Gardner Policy Institute at the U and the chief economist for the Salt Lake Chamber I’m sure her “To Do” list is lengthy. Her article from April-2023 (attached) is spot-on relative to the changes occurring in Utah. Having lived here for over 40 years, I can’t believe how much the state has changed, particularly since the 2002 Winter Olympics. Ms. Gochnour’s use of the term “New Utah” is completely apropos. The state has exploded demographically and culturally and the economy remains on fire. The question as to how the changes will be successfully managed remains somewhat unanswered. Time will tell.
